Snowflake small animal range of woodshavings, sawdust and cat litter products are manufactured using material sourced from responsibly managed forests. All of our products are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council ® (FSC) in accordance with their Chain of Custody scheme.
Every year an area half the size of the UK is cleared of natural forests: temperate and tropical, North and South and on every continent. These forests, which once covered half of the planet, are irreplaceable and their loss has profound economic, social and environmental impacts. Sixty million indigenous people and countless species of plants and animals are wholly dependent on forests to live. The forests support up to 1.6 billion of the poorest people in the world.
The Trademark of the FSC is a label on timber and wood products which indicates that the wood comes from a well managed forest. It enables retailers and the public to choose timber with the confidence that they are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests and provides an incentive in the marketplace for good forestry practice.
Chain of Custody is the unbroken documented path that products take from well managed forests to the consumer which includes all stages of manufacturing, transportation and distribution and is principally a paper-chasing monitoring system which takes place at every stage in the supply chain.
In order to achieve FSC Chain of Custody Certification, Plevin must continually demonstrate that there is a system in place which clearly distinguishes FSC and non-FSC consignments through all stages of production – from receipt of raw material through to delivery of the finished product to our customers.
