Victoria Maw

Victoria is a 21 year old International Dressage Rider, based in North Lincolnshire. 2015 Young Professional Finalist and UKCC Level 2 British Dressage Coach. Part of the 2014/15 Young Rider Promising Squad and now excited to be on the BEF Excel Talent Programme 2015/17.

Victoria started riding at the age of 2 and was a member of the Brocklesby Hunt Pony Club from the age of 5, enjoying her ponies and all the activities that pony club has to offer, and a member of the very successful Brocklesby Hunt Prince Phillip Cup Mounted Games Team. Alongside her very special pony “Sophie” she had a very cheeky 4 year old 13hh pony Fly (not just his name!) who set her on her road to dressage. When Sophie was sold a 14.2hh called Shaky was purchased who was an all round super star, true gold dust, instilling a lot of confidence and enjoyment on the flat and jumping. A true hunting pony.

At the age of 14, Victoria decided to specialise in Dressage and bought a 10 year old 14.2hh pony called Memphis Flyer (Jake). “We started from the bottom and retrained him through to Medium” said Victoria.  They had much success at unaffiliated level before moving onto British Dressage and BYRDS, being part of the Northern Region Teams including BYRDS Inter Regional Squad, Home International, U25 Championships at Sheepgate and Cavan, Ireland.

Victoria’s horse Bon Rouge CH (Ben) has been a four year project so far. Bought as a very green six year old, she has trained him through the levels with the help of her trainer from novice to competing at PSG/Inter 1. Victoria has had a very successful 2015 at both the Winter and Summer National Championships and in International competitions. The pair have been competing at the High Profile Shows and Premier Leagues throughout the year and also representing Great Britain in France at Pompadour CDI, Hickstead CDI in the UK and Lier CDI in Belgium  at Young Rider which has secured much confidence for the future.

Their future aim is to compete in the U25’s Grand Prix, “He loves all the Grand Prix work, which is so exciting, he just needs more time to strengthen.” said Victoria.

Alongside Bon Rouge CH, Victoria has a three year old gelding called Belli Blue who will be out next year contesting 4 year old classes. Victoria also has two other young horses, both bought as foals whom hold great excitement for the future.

“I really believe that horses with potential need riders with ambition, I am looking forward to my future challenges.”
